The Weekly Word: The Way Forward
The weekly verse

There are often “good things” to be found on any given path we take in life, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the right route. Because we have hearts that are predisposed to deception, we have to guard ourselves from falling into cleverly-disguised forms of bondage. These pitfalls can come through our aspirations, our relationships, and everywhere in between. This is why it’s critical that we immerse ourselves in the Truth of God’s Word, and allow Him to pierce through our deceptions & point us back to the true Path of Life.
We have to remember that following Jesus isn’t just “a” way; Jesus is “The Way” to live in the freedom of God the Father. And because of His sacrificial life, we now have access to the very throne of God’s Grace. Which means, we need to come to Him without any gimmicks, games, or worldly forms of guilt. We simply come to the Lord “raw and real”, and allow His Spirit to authenticate or eliminate what’s taking place in our hearts.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

the weekly Consideration
There’s a majesty to Jesus that is both awe-inspiring & intimidating. And the deeper we go in discipleship, the more we discover the depth of His sanctifying work in our life. As we dwell in the Spirit of Christ & open our hearts to receive His Word, His purifying power accomplishes an otherwise impossible task of transformation. In yielding to Jesus, our inner-man becomes undone, our spiritual battles are won, and we’re united with God the Father just as He & Jesus are one.
“When he [Jesus] had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!
When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.” For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught... Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.”

“let go & look forward”
Anytime God sets something new into motion, it’s for the purpose of moving us further into His redemptive plan. He sees the end from the beginning, and He knows what it takes to get us in position to receive His promises. This is why the Lord has an unyielding stance of “letting go & looking forward”.
“Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it?...”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (AMP)
In light of the coming Kingdom, Jesus also warned that anybody who put his hand to the plow & “looked back” would be unfit for service (Luke 9:62). All of this to say, we don’t want to miss what God has in store for us. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you set your heart & mind on things above & to keep His Kingdom first. And let Him inspire you with a persistent faith that lets go of the past & presses into God’s promises.
“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.”
