The Weekly Word: Leave A Kingdom-Legacy
The weekly verse
“…When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.”
—Jesus (Luke 12:48, NLT)
the weekly question
You can permit the enemy to lead you in ongoing bondage, or you can pursue the Lord Jesus for ongoing breakthrough. But you can’t do both. This prompts an honest examination of our hearts & leads us to ask:
Am I pursuing a lifestyle that’s ultimately leading to the God-given legacy I was designed to leave behind?
“We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 (TPT)
the weekly Consideration
Have you found your place?
Jesus’ parables & invitations make it clear that we’re invited to dine with Him on a more personal level. Life in the Kingdom is a bountiful feast, and if you want to properly partake in this feast, it’s imperative you find your seat. Church history has proven that many “think” they hear this call, but the selfishness of their response demonstrates otherwise. This is why we should humbly ask Jesus, The King of the Kingdom:
Where Is My Place At Your Table?
“Jesus, knowing their thoughts, called them to his side and said, “Kings and those with great authority in this world rule oppressively over their subjects, like tyrants. But this is not your calling. You will lead by a completely different model. The greatest one among you will live as the one who is called to serve others, because the greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one with the heart of a servant.”
Matthew 20:25-27 (TPT)
Partakers in the Kingdom of God don’t assert themselves; they invest themselves. They don’t pay attention to positions & titles, but rather, they develop a heart-posture that orients around their relationship with Jesus & their function in His Kingdom. Their lives are leveraged as a means to love & serve the Father & His people. Ultimately, we recognize these people by the measure Jesus instituted—
We Recognize Kingdom People By Their Kingdom Fruit.
The good news is, there is ALWAYS an available seat at the Lord’s table. But take Jesus at His Word & don’t assume the place of honor. But rather, go occupy the humblest seat at the table, and the Master of the Banquet will make sure you are ultimately positioned in your proper place (Jesus, Luke Ch. 14).
The Holy Spirit is our Helper & our Guide; allow Him to empower you for the work of ministry the Lord has placed upon your life. Don’t strive another second, but instead, surrender to the freedom of finding your place in the Spirit. God sees you right where you are, and if you’ll come to Him—
The Lord Will Show You Your Place In His Palace.
the weekly challenge
Sustaining God’s way
Whether you realize it or not, the Lord has a very specific plan for your life. This is both implied & explicitly stated from cover-to-cover in Scripture. As born-again Believers in Jesus Christ, Ephesians 2:10 reveals that God has already prepared “good works for us to walk in”. The problem is, we often find ourselves stumbling in the dark instead of walking as Children of the Light of Christ. So if the issue isn’t a “lack of calling”, then why the disconnect? In many cases—
The Root Problem Is A Lack Of Stewardship.
As a brief illustration, examine the life of Samson. Before he was even born, God set Him apart as a deliverer & judge for Israel. He was anointed with supernatural strength & called to live as a Nazarite, which meant there were a few things he would need to abstain (consecration) from in order to remain set apart & properly used by God.
The more Samson set his heart to do life “on his terms”, the more clouded his heart became. One undisciplined step at a time, he drifted from his vows & lost vital connection to the Lord. Though Samson would end his life with a redemptive moment in the Lord, the sad truth is that he left a lot on the table in respect to his calling. Which begs the question—
Are We Abiding In What God’s Appointed For Us?
Unquestionably, there is a burden & price to pay when following Jesus. It would be immature & unwise to expect a pain-free experience when you’ve chosen to live a life of “taking up your daily cross”. But like Jesus, you get to know the Lord in an ever-deepening, profound way. And as you grow closer to Him, the Holy Spirit brings you into a joy that is unlike any other & the “joy of the Lord becomes your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).
Don’t let the burden of consecration cause you to miss the blessing that comes when you allow God to conform you to the image of Christ. God wants to supernaturally empower you to fulfill your unique calling in His Kingdom. And thankfully, Jesus will sustain you in ongoing victory. Just remember—
Sustaining God’s Way Requires Stewarding God’s Way.
