Does Your “Lot” Matter?
“So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?”
Hebrews 2:1, 3 (NLT)
So often, we live bound by expectations which fall infinitely lower than the revelation of God’s spoken Word over our life. Before the beginning of time, the Lord of all creation destined great plans of eternal stewardship for each of His children. And yet, so many erode their future inheritance because they despise their current lot in life. Instead of investing the treasure we’ve been given today, we often throw it away. The fact of the matter is—
Jesus’ Kingdom Is Defined By “Great Humility”.
It is truly the most unique blend of other-worldly humility & other-worldly expectation. In order to properly discover our part in it, born-again Believers have to sell out to the “mustard-seed mindset” of King Jesus. Each day, we must be willing to forgo worldly measures & maintain a heart-devotion of Kingdom sacrifice. We must press into a faith that is always willing to pay His prescribed price, and yet, never expects anything less than the Lord’s best. Regardless of how we’ve thought before, we need a repentant mindset concerning our lot in life. A mindset that recognizes:
“This Is My Lot, Therefore, It Matters A Lot.”
Understand that the Lord has apportioned “talents” of all types to your care. He is waiting for you to pursue Jesus & learn how to “lay up treasures in heaven as a rich inheritance for all of eternity” (Matthew 6:19-21). Don’t exemplify the “lazy and wicked” servant that’s warned about in Jesus’ parables, but rather, be the wise-one who respects the Master & His righteous desire to see interest accrued before His final return. You have all you need in order to do all that you’re called to do right now. Treasure who and what has been entrusted today &—
Look To Jesus To Lead The Way.
“And furthermore, it is not angels who will control the future world we are talking about. For in one place the Scriptures say, “What are mere mortals that you should think about them, or a son of man that you should care for him? Yet for a little while you made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.
You gave them authority over all things.” Now when it says “all things,” it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their authority.”

“Don’t Miss The Move”
We are often intimidated, and in many cases, threatened by the “new things” the Lord does. The history of God’s people & the Church reveals this reality time & time again. Seemingly every time we see the Lord introduce something new, the people have no idea what to do. In Exodus Ch. 20, God reigned down His Presence through a very intense scene of thunder, lightning, & smoke on the mountain. In response, the people “stood at a distance while Moses approached the Lord in the unknown” (Exodus 20:21).
God became incarnate & dwelt among us in the perfect form of the Son of Man, Christ Jesus. But even then, the prevailing question of the day was, “who is this?”. And when we see the Holy Spirit revealed in the birth of Jesus’ Church, the question then became, “what is happening?”. All of this to say, the Lord specializes in living up to the prophecy given by Isaiah. He is continuing to “make a new way through the barren wilderness of even our day” (Isaiah 43:19).
There is a “new wind” arising in the Spirit of the Lord. And as Jesus often said, only those who have “ears to hear” will understand and embrace what the Spirit is saying & doing. There’s no question that God intends for us to see it. But more than this, His will is that we would receive it (Him). As the people in Exodus were instructed to “clean their clothes” in order to ready themselves for the Lord’s appearance, we too should be seeking the Counsel of the Holy Spirit in having our spiritual clothes cleaned.
Now is the time to draw closer to Jesus & ask Him to Shepherd you through the process of seeing, understanding, and receiving all that He’s doing through His Bride, The Church. Don’t discount the value of today; ask the Holy Spirit to help you turn away from all the distractions that continue to draw you from His Way. Don’t forgo the “good confession” of faith you made (1 Timothy 6:12) & forfeit the invaluable gift of greater intimacy with Christ.
