The Weekly Word: Grace For Victory

The weekly verse

“My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!

For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance.”

James 1:2-3 (TPT)

the weekly question

Are You achieving or receiving?

Perfection isn’t something we achieve, it’s received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. As we embrace a continual revelation of this gospel, the perfection of Christ permeates every area of our life. Growth replaces decay; life triumphs over death. Our thoughts, beliefs, words, and actions become a reflection of the goodness & righteousness of God.

Moment by moment, day after day, we move forward in the grace of God. Empowered by life-giving faith, we flourish instead of floundering. The good news is, Jesus’ resurrection is our restoration. And for those who come to believe in Him—

Jesus Is The Gift That Keeps On Giving.

“This gospel unveils a continual revelation of God’s righteousness—a perfect righteousness given to us when we believe. And it moves us from receiving life through faith, to the power of living by faith. This is what the Scripture means when it says:

“We are right with God through life-giving faith!”

Romans 1:17 (TPT)

the weekly Consideration

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you.

But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that when His glory [filled with His radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may rejoice with great joy.”

1 Peter 4:12-13 (AMP)

As 1 Peter Ch. 4 reveals, the landscape of the human heart is subjected to a “fiery ordeal” of elements. But the challenge of this spiritual state shouldn’t surprise us, but rather, ignite us to rejoice in the refuge of the Lord’s Presence. The truth of the matter is, uniting yourself to Jesus means righteous suffering & refining glory are a part of your story. Which is why it’s imperative to remember—

“…the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.”

Nehemiah 8:10 (AMP)

Though you can’t control every challenge, you can choose your response. If you find the ground of your heart becoming dry, “supplement your faith with goodness, and to goodness understanding” (2 Peter 1:5). Maintain a “fervent and unfailing love for one another” (1 Peter 4:8). Quench yourself daily with the “Living Water” that’s found by spending time in Jesus’ Presence (John 4:14). And remember that, even though this road isn’t burden-free—

Those Who Are Born-Again Have Grace For Victory.

the weekly challenge

Attack Your Anxiety

One of the worst games we play in life is the “what-if” game. We come away with a depressing, distorted outcome every time we entertain this line of thinking, and yet, we come back to it as if it’s an old friend. Jesus knows first-hand the attacks that come against our human condition, and He has no desire to see the well of our hearts tainted with the waters of anxiety. This is why God’s Word continually instructs us to look up & elevate our thinking to His Kingdom’s perspective. Take for example, Ecclesiastes 10:4 (BSB), which says:

“If the ruler’s temper flares against you, do not abandon your post, for calmness lays great offenses to rest.”

The word “calmness” in this passage could be understood as the “medicinal remedy of a sound mind”. In other words, when tough moments inevitably come, we don’t abandon our post. We don’t flinch & we don’t give an inch. We apply the remedy of God’s Word, which tells us:

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7

We stand firm in the Spirit of Jesus, who gives us a calmness and composure that will lay “even the greatest offenses to rest”. No matter what threatens to move us off our peace—

We Remain Grounded In God’s Presence.

Make up your mind to remain resolute in the Spirit today. Even if your circumstances are stubborn & refuse to change, let your heart remain pliable & result in permanent change. Let go of “what might be” and embrace what God has said “will be”. Give The Lord room to work, and you will be able to testify about all He will rectify. Above all—

“…be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus.”

2 Timothy 2:1 (NLT)
