The Weekly Word: Shift Your Stance
The weekly verse
the weekly question
Are You Making Time?
“Jesus used many parables such as these as he taught the people, and they learned according to their ability to understand. He never spoke to them without using parables, but would wait until he was alone with his disciples to explain to them their meanings.”
Mark 4:33-34 (TPT)
There’s a lot of mystery concerning Jesus’ teachings on the Kingdom of God. But when you’re revealing an eternal Kingdom that’s “not of this world” (John 18:63), that’s to be expected. However, when we only settle for what’s available on the surface, we miss the meaning behind the mystery. This is why it’s imperative to recognize, there’s infinite value in spending intimate time with Jesus.
“Then he said to them, “Be diligent to understand the meaning behind everything you hear, for as you do, more understanding will be given to you. And according to your longing to understand, much more will be added to you. For those who listen with open hearts will receive more revelation. But those who don’t listen with open hearts will lose what little they think they have!”
Jesus (Mark 4:24-25, TPT)
Just as He did with the disciples of old, Jesus is “waiting until He’s alone with you” (Mark 4:34) to reveal insight into His Kingdom. He’s inviting you into a greater depth of devotion, so that you can receive a greater depth of revelation. Don’t be like the crowd, who heard the mystery but missed the meaning. Make time to be alone in Jesus’ Presence, and God’s Spirit will unveil more of your purpose in His Kingdom plans.
the weekly Consideration
We don’t just read God’s Word in order to learn “about” it. We lean into Scripture with an inspired expectation to receive His Word for today. It’s not just about understanding what God’s Spirit said then; we need to seek revelation for what He’s saying right here & right now.
“Then Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Mark 4:9 (BSB)
the weekly challenge
“...The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT)
God has consistently demonstrated His ability to use people from all walks of life. He’s worked through people with immeasurable strength (Samson), and He’s shown up in the lives of those who seem to have nothing to offer (the widow with a small jar of oil). With God, you’re never defined by how much you have to give; you’re defined by your willingness to give what you have.
The Spirit of The Lord isn’t searching for something, He’s searching for someone. God’s not looking for those who are capable; God’s looking for those who are available. Every single one of us can do great things because we serve a great God. When we move within the grace of our faith, and simply make ourselves available to the Lord, there’s no limit to what He can do.
Don’t get bogged down in the shallow end of your situation & your insecurities. Sink deeper into the blessings afforded to you as a co-heir with Christ Jesus. Turn your heart away from the world, and entrust it to the One who promises to never refuse you. Walk in the Spirit of The Lord, and watch as He powerfully works through you.
“The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”
2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT)
