The Weekly Word: Peace Worth Pursuing

The weekly verse

“The Lord will give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.”

Psalms 29:11 (AMP)

the weekly question

Do You Possess Peace?

Peace is powerful. This is why Jesus not only gives us His peace, but also makes a revelatory distinction between “His Peace” and the “peace of the world”. Fundamentally, Scripture draws a dividing line between the way in which peace is imparted. When we look to the world’s way, we find—

Peace Is Dangled As An Ever-Elusive, Circumstantial Carrot.

Worldly peace sends us on a wild-goose chase, where we run from one thing to another, circumstance after circumstance, constantly trying to obtain a sense of lasting peace. Though it’s completely foolish to do so, we often participate in this rat race, because deep down, we know peace is something we absolutely have to have. Lasting peace is non-negotiable, and yet, worldly peace ensures you never possess anything that lasts beyond a few fleeting moments. However—

There’s Exceptionally Good News For Those Who Know Jesus.

Jesus’ Peace is nothing like what the world has to offer. Pursuing Jesus’ Peace only leads us into a richer experience of abundant life. And yet, despite the richness of this route, Jesus has covered the costs. His life, death, and resurrection purchased this inheritance for every Saint. Our responsibility, as people who walk by faith, is to simply come into agreement with what He’s already arranged. Jesus doesn’t dangle peace as a means to entice you—

Jesus Gifts You Peace As A Means To Empower You.

God’s gifts are always designed to draw you closer to Him, not further away. If you find an absence of tangible peace in your life, you may have drifted further from the Lord than you ever intended. Godly peace isn’t meant to come & go, it’s an overflowing source of life that’s designed to feed your soul.

The Lord doesn’t want to see His children spiritually starve another second. We have to remember the Promises of Jesus & pursue them with unrelenting faith. Jesus paid the price, therefore peace should be in your possession. Peace is your gift from God & ultimately—

Peace Is Possessed As You Dwell In Jesus’ Presence.

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.”

Jesus (John 14:27, BSB)

Experience God’s rest today

God has established & reconfirmed His principle of rest many times over. In Exodus, the Israelites were given a revelation of “refreshment” surrounding rest. In the Psalms, King David reveals how the Lord’s rest leads us to a place of “peace, renewed strength, and along a righteous path that honors God”.

And in Matthew Ch. 11, one of Jesus’ most well-known invitations was a call for the weary to “unload their burdens & live at-rest in His Presence”. In other words, if we want to experience all God has & to be at our best—

We Need To Walk God’s Road To Rest.

God’s greatest desire isn’t for you to simply catch your breath; His desire is to breathe New Life in you. If you will live with an unwavering pursuit of His Presence, you’ll experience the abundance of life that resides in resting in Christ Jesus alone.

If you know there’s an unmistakable deficit in the rest you’re experiencing & the rest God offers, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where you’ve fallen out of alignment with His Will. Partner with The Spirit to change course & begin to walk in a New Way. Immerse yourself in His Presence &—

Experience God’s Rest Today.

Refreshment:

“You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but on the seventh day you must stop working.

This gives your ox and your donkey a chance to rest. It also allows your slaves and the foreigners living among you to be refreshed”

Exodus 23:12 (NLT)

Peace, Strength & Righteous Paths:

“He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.”

Psalm 23:2-3 (NLT)

A Life Of Rest:

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please.

You will find refreshment and rest in me.”

Jesus (Matthew 11:28-29, TPT)
