The Weekly Word: Protect His Presence

The weekly verse

“…‘I see that the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭25‬, ‭28‬ ‭(NLT)‬‬

the weekly question

What’s Keeping you From God’s best?

There are so many reasons to thank God for gifting us with the Presence of His Holy Spirit. Apart from His Presence, we would operate in total & complete spiritual blindness. This is what makes discernment one of the most compelling reasons to give Him thanks.

Without discernment, we find ourselves in fellowship with the wrong company of people. Without discernment, we compromise in ways that crush our spirit. Without discernment, we walk away from the “fresh bread” of our Heavenly Father, and instead, choose to feed on the “rotten bread” of our hell-bound enemy.

“Boasting over your tolerance of sin is inappropriate. Don’t you understand that even a small compromise with sin permeates the entire fellowship, just as a little leaven permeates a batch of dough? So remove every trace of your “leaven” of compromise with sin so that you might become new and pure again. For indeed, you are clean because Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.

So now we can celebrate our continual feast, not with the old “leaven,” the yeast of wickedness or bitterness, but we will feast on the freshly baked bread of innocence and holiness.”

1 Corinthians 5:6-8 (TPT)

When we indulge sin, we compromise the quality of life that Jesus has graciously prepared for us. What seems inconsequential, can be the very things that ruin the entire batch. Feeding on rotted bread pollutes our life, our relationships with others, and ultimately our intimacy with God. Which is why-

We Have To Get Rid Of What’s Rotting.

Jesus, our Passover Lamb, has made us clean. It’s time we enjoy the immeasurable wealth of living with a clean bill of health. It’s time we stop compromising & start celebrating. Stop compromising with the bread of sin that drains you.

Celebrate The Bread Of The Savior Who Sustains You.

the weekly Consideration

Many believers are robbing themselves of untold blessings because they’re unwilling to risk being “bored” with the Lord. Of course, it’s insanity to believe the Lord of all creation is remotely boring, but regardless of that fact, we often scoff or shrug-off the key insight Jesus gave us for connecting with God in a radical way. And what was the essence of what Jesus had to say?

Get Alone With God.

Jesus lived & taught a lifestyle that was predicated on praying & seeking to ultimately please the Lord in the secret place. He showed us that it’s in the intimately-quiet place, where there are seemingly no thrills & frills, that we experience profound blessing in the Lord. This is the place where we come with a humble willingness to simply spend time learning to love & be loved by Father God. And as we push through our carnally-perceived notions of boredom—

We Invite A Barrage Of Kingdom Blessing.

The bottom-line is, you don’t “make a living” developing intimacy in public; intimacy (in any relationship) is cultivated in private. This is why there is an enormity of Kingdom blessing available to those who are willing to simply spend time seeking God with this heart posture. This is why, in humble faith—

We Obediently Take Jesus At His Word & Reputation.

Holy Spirit, help us overcome a shallow-belief system that keeps us from recognizing the importance of spending time with you. Help us come into the blessing that comes from being with you in the secret place. Bring us to a point in which, we simply want to know you more & experience you face-to-face.

“Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend...”

Exodus 33:11 (NLT)

“But whenever you pray, go into your innermost chamber and be alone with Father God, praying to him in secret. And your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly.”

—Jesus (Matthew 6:6, TPT)

the weekly challenge

Protect His presence

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the fear of man is the beginning of foolishness. Revering the Lord leads us higher & higher; fearing people leads us lower & lower. Ultimately, fearing the crowds leads to crucifying Christ.

“As the celebration of the Passover Lamb was approaching, the Jewish religious leaders and scholars of the law continually schemed to find a way to murder Jesus without starting a riot—for they feared the crowds.”

Luke 22:1-2 (TPT)

Holding other people’s opinions in higher regard than God’s is a spiritual compromise of the heart. It’s a trap that we can’t afford to lay for ourselves any longer. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any area in your heart where you’re exalting people at the expense of your love for Jesus. As His Spirit leads, wield the Truth of God’s Word as your spiritual sword for clearing your heart. Make sure that you’re moving forward in faith.

Be bold, be vigilant, and be proactive in protecting the indispensable Presence of Jesus in your life.
